With the waving of Delisha Milton-Jones (who was claimed by the New York Liberty, by the way) the Silver Stars have announced a corresponding move. San Antonio has signed rookie Chelsea Poppens, who was a second-round draft pick of the Seattle Storm out of Iowa State University.
The former Cyclone played in only two games for the Storm and both came in pre-season action. In 19 minutes of play she scored four points and picked up five rebounds. The forward was an All-American honorable mention in her junior and senior seasons.
San Antonio did not announce the terms of the deal per the WNBA not caring about transparency in the slightest. This is one of my biggest pet peeves with the WNBA — they’re essentially robbing fans of what is one of the most popular pastimes of fans of other major sports leagues.
I assume Poppens will be available to play in Saturday’s contest against Phoenix, though the press release did not specify one way or another.
You can follow Poppens on Twitter here.
